This wonderful silk ball gown was inspired by a Charles F. Worth gown and was commissioned by Debra Stair of Denver, Colorado. It was a challenge to make this gown, and I wish I could have been on the ball room floor when Debbie stopped the clock with this gown.
This gown won 1st Place in the 2009 USA Best Ball Gown in the World contest.
The 2009 USA Best Ball Gown in the WORLD 1st Place WINNER: (out of 14 entries)Comment by Judge Lisa Schnapp: 8/15/2009"(Entry 41) Loved the "Worth" style clean tailoring, the boldly contrasted use of colors, the sharp, crisp, tailored pleats and attention to the most minute details. Any woman would be proud to own and wear this wonderful gown, and the seamstress should be proud of making such a close representation of a Worth original."Comment by Judge Alethea Sayers: 8/15/2009"A clever use of varying lines, which is designed to flatter the wearer in all of the right places."Comment by Judge Miss Brenda Brown: 8/15/2009"Another one of my "favorites" - the use of the box pleats; fan pleats; all indicative of the Victorian era is impressive and having done these myself, I am impressed with the perfection to these details that this seamstress has achieved. Wow! This seamstress should be very proud of her creation!"Comment by Judge Cheryl Ritchie: 8/15/2009"Absolutely gorgeous gown. Clearly defined lines, crisp pleating and exceptional attention to detail. Can't go wrong with a Worth!"Comment by Judge Claudette Donat: 8/15/2009"Presentation is regal and lovely. I like to see a dress with fabrics etc. as original as possible. Like a time portal outfit. I love this dress..."Linda E. Charron, Your Couturiere 217-732-4399
